# 116 DON'T BE RELIGULOUS

I had a blast watching Bill Maher's documentary film Religulous a few weeks ago and I must say, a lot of people have been so fucked up by religion. The film asks questions to the believer and shows how things have gone to far in the name of God.

It would sure raise a lot of "hell" in the Philippines if it's shown here because the movie equally offends all religions.

My take on this is simple: I don't buy everything the Church says (READ: I still honor Jesus because he's a holy man) and I don't like religions who scare people about Hell or influence decisions because of eternal rewards in heaven.

Why can't we just be good for goodness' sake? Why are we so fixated about our salvation/ in the other world (hard to prove if there is one) when we have our own version of hell here in our midst?

Questions abound. Instead of saying my God is better than your God, how about finding a way to live harmoniously? How about looking for a cure for AIDS? How about looking for a solution to world hunger? Why persecute or even kill people who don't see your point of view? Why can't we just give up being right and do something that benefits the world?

If there is a kingdom of heaven, why can't we just get along and make it possible here instead of waiting for Judgment Day (if there is one)?

Actually, they've already had a major breakthrough in finding a cure for AIDS a few months ago. It's just a matter of time and we can be whoring again yay!
